Feedmarker lets you bookmark items from the Web and read RSS and Atom feeds. It also lets you organize all your stuff (feeds and marks) using an open tagging system.
How do I use it?
To add a feed or a bookmark, use the new source link.
If you're adding a feed, you can enter the URL of the RSS or Atom feed, or you can enter the URL of the Web site (Feedmarker will try to find the site's feed for you).
You can also use the FM bookmarklets (found on the Admin page) to add feeds and marks. Just drag them to your toolbar or favorites.
Tags are an important part of Feedmarker. When you add feeds or marks, make sure to tag them with keywords that make sense to you, so you can find them later. You can also look at what other people have saved by using the tags menu on the right side of the page.
The home page shows the 'Popular' results from all article categories. These are the recent articles that other users have voted for. They are not only ranked according to how many votes they have received, but also how new they are. Only articles from the last three days will appear on the Popular section.
Every member of the site has a profile page. This page provides access to certain information about the user, such as which articles they have voted for, submitted and commented on. It also has a link so that you can send them a private mail. If the user has chosen to edit their profile, it may also contain a picture of them or an avatar, and other personal information. Some profiles are created automatically to enable the automatic feeds to work. These 'users' are not real people!
If you find an article that isn't already in the system, you can submit it quickly and easily by clicking on the 'Submit a News Item' button. The first time that you do this, it will be placed in a moderation queue for approval. This is to prevent spammers from flooding the site with irrelevant links. Once you have had one article submission approved, you will be able to submit others without any delay.
